History of the Kaufman Lofts Project
MHBC Planning Urban Design & Lanscape Architecture worked in conjunction with the City of Kitchener to develop a plan to do an adaptive reuse and heritage preservation on the former Kaufman Footwear building. The plan included a long-term vision for the landmark property that preserved both its historical and architectural significance.
The restoration was so well done that MHBC was given the Provincial Outstanding Planning Award by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute in 1998 to recognize their excellence in carrying out the Kaufman Footwear project.
